Getting Better in Tough Times
It is no secret that the global economy is struggling and the boating industry is not exempt from these struggles.
While Nautique has been impacted by the current global economy, I am very happy to report that by all accounts we have been impacted less than our competitors. We have been picking up market share during this tough global economic time and I believe it is a credit to our great product, great dealers, great Nautique team, and high quality standards.
However, even the best companies are being impacted by the current economy and we, like every other company, have been trying to decide the best way to navigate through this time.
At Nautique we have made the decision to use this time as an opportunity to significantly improve our company. Today we announced the introduction of the boating industry’s most aggressive employee development program. This new program provides training for employees rather than sending them home, as most companies do, to balance boat production with the market.
A big reason to enact this aggressive employee development program is to help our team mates who would have been sent home. However, equally importantly, we view this as an incredible opportunity to invest in our people and get even better. We want to turn a negative into an incredible long-term positive for our company and, more importantly, for our customers.
At Nautique we win most of the industry awards and are generally recognized as having the highest quality, performance and value in our market segment. We are also recognized as a company incredibly committed to improvement. In fact, one industry publication last year said that our company was “on an aggressive improvement path the likes of which the marine industry has never seen.”
While we enjoy the accolades, we are not even remotely satisfied; we want to keep getting even better. The best getting better; that’s not only what we are committed to doing but also what we are actually doing.
