The G23 pulls the 2012 Canadian Wakeboard National Championships

Posted by admin

The G23 pulled its fifth event of the season at the 2012 Canadian Wakeboard Nationals held at POP Wake School in St. Zotique, QC. This event saw over 100 competitors of all ages from all across Canada come together for three days of riding behind the Super Air Nautique G23 in hopes of becoming this year’s National champ.

“Having the Super Air Nautique G23 here at the Canadian Nationals really stepped up everyone’s riding this year. For many riders it was their first time getting the opportunity to ride behind the boat and everyone was blown away with the size and shape of the wake. We all want to thank Nautique for their support!!”
- Ellen Barwise Director of Sport, Waterski-Wakeboard Canada.

The 2012 Nautique U.S. National Wakeboard Championships held at VOA park in Cincinnati, Ohio saw three Nautique athletes on the podium and was the second major event of the season pulled by the Super Air Nautique G23. In the Pro Women’s division 15 year old Nautique rider Meagan Ethell took second place with a run that included a Dum Dum which had never before been landed by a woman in competition. Also riding well all weekend was Raimi Merritt placing fourth in the final.

In the Jr. Pro Men’s division Nautique’s newest member Mike Dowdy took second place going huge with a plethora of tricks including a KGB 540 to top it off. Earlier that week in a practice set Dowdy landed a KGB 720, Moby Dick 720, and began working on wake to wake double flips to give us a gimps of what is to come as he hits the pro circuit next year. Team wakeskater Brandon Thomas stayed consistent all weekend with his smooth style earning another podium spot for Team Nautique coming in third place after a close final.
