What is your favorite thing to do when you're not wakeboarding?
Name your favorite place wakeboarding has taken you?
Bull Shoals, Arkansas. I lived in St. Louis, Missouri through high school and my family would take an annual trip down there for skiing and camping. Just great family memories there, and then getting to go with the Nautique team a few years ago was a great way to bring others into my memory file.
Tell us an interesting fact that most people don't know about you.
My nose sweats when I eat spicy food. My wife, Kerri, and I were in a flash mob...with Tebow.
What are the top three most played songs in your playlist?
Always changing, but here's a few.
Zac Brown-Knee Deep - Day that I Die
Mat Redman - 10,000 Reasons
Do you have a pre-run routine you do before contests for good luck?
Try to hang out with friends and fans to keep my mind off the comp and then about 20 minutes before I ride I find a quiet place to think about what my run will look like and then pray about it.
What has been the biggest accomplishment of your career?
The video game (wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray) was cool, but winning a truck and handing my dad the keys was one of the coolest feelings because he deserved a new car after all he had done for myself and my brothers. He still drives it.
If you could give someone one piece of advice; what would it be?
Don't get caught up in the "How do I get sponsored?" thing. Ride because you enjoy the feeling of being on the water and being with friends. If you get good enough, go to comps and if you do well enough, sponsors will find you. Once you get sponsored it is easy to lose the passion of riding for yourself and end up riding for others. Then you are worried about others expectations and not riding because of the feeling. So, take your time and enjoy the ride. And another thing I like to tell kids and even adults is something my dad always told me. You are who your friends are so choose the right crowd to surround yourself with.
