Since 1990, the Nautique WWA Nationals has attracted the top wake athletes from throughout the country to compete for national titles in each of its age and skill-level categories. It is the largest wakeboarding event in the United States with competitors ranging from seven years old to 55 years young, with the top two divisions – the Pro Men and Pro Women's divisions - attracting world-famous action sports athletes.

For the pros, the Nautique WWA Nationals also serves as an event in the King of Wake and Queen of Wake series. Pro riders compete for points towards their respective series standings in addition to the national titles.

The results from the Nautique WWA Nationals will also determine who will represent the United States at the 2012 WWA Wakeboard World Championships.
