Historic National Championships

Hanging out with JD Webb and Dano the Mano

Young fans lined up all weekend for autographs from Team Nautique

WOW – what a weekend in Oklahoma City. There was so much that happened at the Air Nautique National Championships that I am not even sure where to start.

I guess I will start with some historic firsts. The riders this past weekend definitely took advantage of their opportunity to ride behind the Super Air Nautique 230 to try and achieve something they have not previously been able to do behind any other boat.

Team Nautique rider Danny Harf used the 230 to be the first rider to ever land a heelside nose grab 720 in competition. We had a brand new trick debut during the men’s wakeboard event and there were two new tricks done during the competition that had never before been landed in a tournament by a female rider. The wakeskaters were in on the action too and the Byerly Icon Edition 210 provided the perfect wake for the first ever wake-to-wake 540 in the wakeskate finals.

It was great that the athletes had such confidence in the Nautique boats to stretch their game, but it was equally exciting to hear athlete after athlete rave about Nautique after their ride. We knew our boats were the only ones up to pulling the National Championships and, both the athlete comments and the results verified our beliefs.

Off the water it was great to see the fans line up at the Nautique booth for autographs from the Team Nautique athletes. Nautique athletes are not only great on the water but they also are great off the water; they go out of their way to treat the young fans well. We are proud to be represented by such a great group of athletes.

Dano the Mano and Nic “N-I-C” Weinacker did a great job announcing, as they always do, and I always enjoy doing interviews with them at the events. They make it fun and the all-around great guy “N-I-C” even made it to the men’s semi finals.

Another highlight was the great Wake Church service at the start of Sunday. Team Nautique athletes Shaun Murray and Emily Durham (joined by Emily’s husband and also a great guy, Kevin) lead this service at all the professional events and I appreciate them letting me share some thoughts during the service this past weekend. Once again it shows what incredible people choose to represent Nautique.

If you couldn’t attend the event you will soon have an opportunity to see it on television. Once FUEL TV edits several days of events down to thirty minutes they will show it several times over the next few months.

Finally, we had several new people make the decision to join the Nautique family this weekend. If you were one of those people, we welcome you to the family – you will love it here. If you have not yet joined us I would strongly encourage you to visit the Nautique dealer closest to you and learn why once you join the Nautique family, you will never want to leave.

Enjoy the Nautique life!
